Tarzan of the Apes

Tarzan of the Apes

Edgar Rice Burroughs

Synopsis

Tarzan of the Apes follows the story of a boy raised in the African jungle by a tribe of apes after his parents are marooned and die. As he grows up, he learns the ways of the wild and comes to understand both his animal family and his human heritage. When he encounters a group of explorers and a woman named Jane, he is torn between two worlds: the wild jungle that is his home and the civilization that he has never known. The novel explores themes of identity, belonging, and the struggle between nature and nurture. Tarzan's journey is one of self-discovery as he navigates his unique position as a bridge between two cultures.
